Editing default templates

For default email templates such as reset password emails or new user registrations you can search for the string "Hi {$a->firstname}" under Site Administration -> Language -> Language customisation as shown below.

To edit simply copy and paste the original and update in the customisation area. Note the use of placeholders wrapped in curly brackets which are dynamically populated for each user and the use of /n for line breaks in some instances.
