Audience Visibility

Course visibility is determined by the field Audience-based visibility. The default setting for this field is No users. This means on a new course no user with an authenticated user role (logged into the system with no higher permissions, such as Trainer, Editing trainer) or a Learner role can see the course.

Audience-Based Visibility

The other settings for this field are:

  • Visible to all users – This means all users can see the course and depending on the enrolment option, can enrol on the course
  • Visible to enrolled users – This means ONLY users who are enrolled on the course can see the course.
  • Visible to enrolled users and members of the selected audience(s) – This means ONLY enrolled users AND any users in the selected audience(s) can see the course.

Category Visibility

When a category is hidden authenticated users and/or Learners cannot see the category. However, if a course is set to visible inside a hidden category the course setting will make the course available in the following ways:

  • Enrolled Learners – When the Audience-based visibility is set to Visible to enrolled users, Visible to enrolled users and members of selected audience(s) or Visible to all users an enrolled user can see and access the course from their Record of Learning and My Current Courses on the Home page
  • All Users – When the Audience-based visibility is set to Visible to all users any users who uses the Search option on the Find Learning page will see the course – if the course name or description meets their search criteria.
  • Selected Audience(s) – When the Audience-based visibility is set to Visible to enrolled users and members of the selected audience(s) or Visible to all users a user in the selected audiences who uses the Search option on the Find Learning page will see the course – if the course name or description meets their search criteria.
